[As for Mettaton being miserable on the beach. Well... Asriel wasn't as close to Alphys as Mettaton was, but he's all too familiar with how much it hurts to lose someone you care about. Not getting to spend as much time with them as you wanted before they left, or getting to tell them how you really feel before they're gone.
